Manila, Feb. 11 -- BUTUAN CITY - At least 29 areas in the Caraga Region have been classified as election areas of concern ahead of the May 12 midterm elections, a police official said Tuesday.

Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano, director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 (Caraga Region), said 19 areas fall under the orange category, indicating serious armed threats due to multiple risk factors, including past election-related incidents - 10 in Agusan del Sur and nine in Surigao del Sur.

"These areas have recorded incidents in the last two elections, making them high-priority zones for security measures," Abrahano said during an interview at the PRO-13 Press Corps Fellowship event.
