Manila, March 25 -- Senator Grace Poe on Tuesday lauded the extension of operating hours for the Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit-1 (LRT-1), citing its help to workers rushing to catch the last train after a long day of work.

"The extended operating hours of the MRT and LRT bring a welcome respite to our commuters. Tired and weary from work, our kababayans (fellow citizens) taking the train often have to rush to beat the last trip going home," she said in a statement.

The senator emphasized that the measure is especially timely as the rehabilitation of the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) pushes more people to ditch their cars in favor of public transportation.
