Philippines, Feb. 10 -- As the election campaign for national candidates starts on Tuesday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed to intensify the implementation of security measures, including personnel deployment in the high-risk areas, to ensure the safety of political candidates.

"Asahan natin yung security coverage natin doon sa mga inaasahan influx ng mga national candidates from the NCR down to Visayas and Mindanao ay naka ready yan (Expect security coverage to be ready for the influx of the national candidates from the National Capital Region down to Visayas and Mindanao)," PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo in a press conference at Camp Crame on Monday.
