Manila, Feb. 10 -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) has committed full support to road-clearing and post-disaster response efforts in Mindanao and other areas hit by tropical cyclone Basyang.
Police Regional Offices were directed to deploy personnel to assist local government units in clearing debris from roads and bridges made impassable by Basyang.
"The first step is to clear the roads of debris and other obstacles for the fast and smooth flow of government assistance," PNP chief Gen. Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement Tuesday.
He added that PNP personnel are working closely with local government units (LGUs) and other agencies to ensure the safety and welfare of affected residents.
