Manila, Jan. 30 -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) will conduct a comprehensive security audit of all airports nationwide following an incident at an Iloilo airport involving a knife-wielding passenger who was shot after attempting to stab a police officer.

In a statement Friday, the PNP said it is already working closely with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and airport security units to immediately assess existing procedures.

The evaluation will focus on screening procedures, access point controls and emergency response protocols, and aims to identify any lapses that allowed a weapon into the facility.
