MANILA, Nov. 24 -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) has placed its intelligence and tracker teams on standby as it closely monitors developments after the government submitted a request for an Interpol Red Notice against former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.

Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. directed the teams to maintain continuous communication with Interpol's National Central Bureau (NCB) in Manila.

"The PNP's role is to coordinate closely with our Interpol National Central Bureau," Nartatez said in a statement on Monday. "Kami ang magiging primary enforcement arm kung sakaling ma-approve ang notice (We will be the primary enforcement arm if the notice is approved)."
