Manila, Oct. 10 -- Police forces in Metro Manila will secure the weekly public assemblies to be held every Friday.
Acting Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr. said in a statement Friday that commanders in Metro Manila and other areas where public assemblies would be held have been advised to prepare for the events, including coordination with the organizers.
He assured the PNP has not monitored serious threats to national security.
"We understand the importance of these activities for people who seek the truth, for people who seek justice, for people who call for justice amid allegations of wrongdoings involving taxpayers' money," Nartatez said.
