Manila, Jan. 14 -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said it is ready to provide technical support for a possible forensic audit of the so-called "Cabral files."

The files consist of data storage devices, documents and records linked to the late Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral, a key figure in the corruption scandal involving government flood control projects.

In a statement, acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said he has placed the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) on standby in anticipation of any formal request for technical assistance or a forensic audit.
