Manila, Jan. 14 -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday vowed to conduct a "thorough and impartial" investigation into the alleged rape perpetrated by a police officer in Manila.

"We will conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to uncover the truth, help the victim, and ensure that justice is served," acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement.

Nartatez met with the alleged rape victim and her husband at his office on Tuesday where he listened to their concerns.

Based on initial information, the incident took place in December 2025 when the victim and the suspect were in a gathering with friends.
