MANILA, Nov. 13 -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) is fast-tracking the repair and rehabilitation of police stations damaged by Super Typhoon Uwan to ensure continuity of service.
"We are expediting all the necessary procedures to start the repair and rehabilitation of all our facilities damaged by the typhoon," acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement on Thursday.
Among the police facilities that sustained severe damage due to Uwan was the Casiguran Municipal Police Station in Aurora, whose barracks was destroyed, forcing police officers to perform their duties in an empty detention cell to maintain operations.
