Manila, Sept. 11 -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has signed into law a measure renaming the Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PhilSCA) as the National Aviation Academy of the Philippines (NAAP) and formally declaring it the country's national professional institution for aviation.
Republic Act 12255, signed on Sept. 5 and made public on Thursday, institutionalizes NAAP's role in producing world-class aviation professionals and enhancing the Philippines' aviation education in line with international standards.
Under the new law, the NAAP will specialize in aviation-related academic and professional programs and will serve both the civil aviation and defense sectors, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
