Manila, March 25 -- The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) Western Visayas office is eyeing to reimburse some 82,353 denied claims due to late filing amounting to over PHP591.91 million under its flexibility in claims policy.

Under PhilHealth Circular 2025-0006 which took effect on March 21, the reimbursement will cover claims submitted between Jan. 1, 2018 and Dec. 31, 2024, the period when the state health insurer started its electronic claims.

"The purpose of this policy is for us to pay hospitals with denied claims that were denied previously because of late filing," PhilHealth-6 public affairs unit head Janime Jalbuna said in an interview on Tuesday.
