Manila, June 25 -- The Philippine government, through the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran resulting in the conclusion of Tel Aviv's 12-day assault on Tehran.

"The Philippines welcomes the US announcement of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, hopeful that it will be a crucial step towards achieving lasting peace in the region," said Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Ma. Teresita Daza in a statement Wednesday.

"We urge all parties concerned to continue engaging in dialogue and negotiations toward a permanent solution to this issue."
