MANILA, Dec. 1 -- The Philippine Army (PA) on Monday maintained its commitment to upholding human rights in every mission as it joined the nationwide observance of National Human Rights Consciousness Week.
"As we observe this National Human Rights Consciousness Week, let it serve as a catalyst for renewed dedication and sustained efforts to foster a society where the rights of every Filipino people are upheld and celebrated," PA chief Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete said during the flag-raising ceremony at the PA headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
He noted that human rights are not just principles to be observed on special occasions but are essential rights that must be protected.
