Manila, Feb. 20 -- The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Thursday lauded President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for signing into law a measure fixing the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) commandant's term of office to three years.
Republic Act (RA) No 12122, or an Act Fixing the Term of Office of the PCG Commandant and for Other Purposes, amending Section 5 of RA No. 9993 or the PCG law, was signed by Marcos on Tuesday.
"Coast guardians overwhelmingly welcome this fitting recognition of the importance of continuity in ensuring the efficient implementation of plans, programs, and operations in line with the PCG mandate," the PCG said in a statement.
