MANILA, April 2 -- The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is set to conduct another hardware check with information technology (IT) experts to strengthen its cybersecurity measures after the second hacking of its Facebook page within the year.

In a statement on Tuesday, PCG spokesperson Rear Adm. Armando Balilo said full access to the PCG's official Facebook page has been restored and is back in the control of the PCG Public Affairs Service (CGPAS).

"The CGPAS coordinated with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) under the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and Meta to conduct backend operations and assess the security breach," Balilo said.
