CATAINGAN, June 21 -- The Philippine Coast Guard-Bicol (PCG-5) on Saturday assured it is intensifying coastal intelligence network to enhance maritime security and prevent the entry of narcotics through ports.
PCG-5 Commander Commodore Ivan Roldan said the initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive on the recalibrated national drug strategy.
"We are doubling our efforts to enhance our coastal intelligence operations, through coordination with barangay officials, fisherfolk associations, and enhanced community relations" he said in an interview.
He said the PCG continues to conduct checkpoints at major ports throughout the region, utilizing K-9 and Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams.
