Manila, Feb. 18 -- The Philippine Coast Guard in Bicol (PCG-5) has intensified its maritime safety operations by establishing a protocol reporting system and radar systems to ensure maritime security in the region.

In an interview on Tuesday, Coast Guard District Bicol Commander Commodore Ivan Roldan said they continue to implement protocol systems and closely monitor all foreign vessels observed in the area.

"Regarding the foreign vessels we have detected in the eastern part, particularly in the waters of Catanduanes, we have radar systems and a protocol reporting system connected to the national headquarters of the Coast Guard and our National Coast Watch Center, which are in place to monitor the situation," he said.
