Manila, Jan. 2 -- The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Ilocos Sur imposed a sea travel ban on Friday due to rough to very rough seas caused by a gale warning signal.

In a sea travel advisory, Lt. Christopher Busilan, station commander of the Coast Guard Station in Ilocos Sur, said the sea travel ban is a safety precaution, particularly among fishing boats and other small craft with 15 gross tonnage and below.

As of this posting, strong to gale force winds aggravated by the northeast monsoon are affecting the seaboards of northern Luzon, covering Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur.

The bulletin warned of waves that could reach up to 5 meters and wind force of 48 kph to 68 kph.
