Manila, April 3 -- Fisherfolk in Antique are assured of protection as they go fishing in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
"For many months and in the past years, despite our limited assets, we ensure that the requirement of our assets will target only those that we recognize as our traditional fishing ground," Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) spokesperson for the WPS, Commodore Jay Tarriela, said in a press conference here Thursday.
He said that only last week, together with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, they provided security and protection to more than 26 fishermen at the Bajo de Masinloc to make sure they could still fish in the area.
