Manila, April 9 -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called on Filipinos to honor the legacy of national heroes by embracing compassion, kindness, and selflessness as the country commemorates Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) on Wednesday.

In his message, Marcos paid tribute to the Filipino and American forces who fought valiantly during World War II, particularly recalling the 1942 Fall of Bataan.

"Their remarkable story continues to inspire us all as we carry on their work of protecting our nation and building a country worthy of their sacrifice," Marcos said.
