Manila, June 28 -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Saturday will be supporting Alexandra Eala as she competes in the finals of the Eastbourne Open in England, a Women's Tennis Association tour-level event.

Eala, 20, is playing 19-year-old Australian Maya Joint as of posting time.

"Can't wait to watch [Alex Eala] make history in the Philippines' first-ever WTA Finals," Marcos said in an X post.

"We're already so proud, Alex. Just play your game and enjoy every moment," he added.

Marcos told Eala "the whole Philippines is behind [her]."

Eala reached the final after overcoming France's Varvara Gracheva, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, in the semifinals on Friday.
