MANILA, Nov. 25 -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called on Filipinos to make respect, consent, and fairness "everyday practices," as the country begins the annual 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) on Tuesday amid persistent concerns over gender-based abuses nationwide.

In his message, Marcos said the campaign serves as a reminder that advancing women's rights "must be a perpetual mission and advocacy."

He emphasized that ensuring women's safety and well-being is essential to national progress.

"When we secure their peace and happiness, we create conditions that allow them to realize their full potential - a necessary requisite for our nation to truly grow and flourish," the President said.
