Manila, June 12 -- Collaborative efforts will lay a foundation for the Philippines' progress and stability, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said Thursday, as he led the celebration of the 127th anniversary of the proclamation of the country's independence.

"Through our collective efforts, we will forge the path of progress, stability, and prosperity for our present and future generations," Marcos said in his message for the Independence Day commemoration.

Marcos called on his fellow Filipinos to honor the country's forefathers by striving for excellence in preserving rights and freedoms "used solely for the improvement and protection of our citizenry."
