Manila, July 9 -- Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan on Wednesday filed a set of Senate resolutions seeking urgent legislative review of landmark agriculture and fisheries policies, saying reforms must be made to ensure that farmers and fisherfolk are not left behind.
The resolutions lead the second batch of his legislative priorities for the 20th Congress and aim to assess the effectiveness of the Sagip Saka Act, the impact of the Rice Tariffication Law, and the effect of commercial fishing in municipal waters on small-scale fishers.
"These are issues I heard directly from our farmers and fisherfolk during the campaign. We need to make sure the laws we passed are truly working for them," Pangilinan said.
