Manila, Dec. 10 -- The local government of Bayambang is aiming for the town's conversion into a component city of Pangasinan.

Special assistant to the Mayor, Dr. Cezar Quiambao, of Bayambang, in an interview on Tuesday afternoon, said the town has already met the minimum required total land area of at least 100 sq. km., with its 168-sq. km. total land, under Republic Act 9009, an act amending section 450 of the Local Government Code of 1991, but still lacks the required income.

"Actually, our cityhood, when the new law was passed requiring the average local revenue of PHP400 million for the past three years, we only (had) above PHP300 million revenue, so it didn't reach the required income," he said.
