Manila, May 2 -- The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) has ramped up efforts to combat the spread of disinformation, mal-information, and misinformation-collectively known as "fake news"-through the creation of its own Anti-Fake News Action Committee.

Pangasinan PPO director Col. Rollyfer Capoquian said Friday the initiative is part of a nationwide campaign within the Philippine National Police (PNP) to address the harmful effects of false information.

"Fake news causes misunderstanding, speculation, and unnecessary panic. Our leadership has directed us to find ways to address this issue. So, what the police will do here is, if there's fake news, we will publish stories or write up on issues that will fight against the fake news...
