Manila, June 11 -- The inflation rate in Pangasinan rose to 2.6 percent in May 2025, up from 1.8 percent in April, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Region 1.

PSA Pangasinan chief statistical specialist Edgar Norberte said the increase was mainly driven by higher costs in housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, which accounted for 82.2 percent of the inflation uptrend.

The surge was particularly evident in electricity, with an inflation rate of 8.7 percent in May (up from -4.5% in April), housing rentals up to 3.8 percent from 0.8 percent.

Restaurants and accommodation services contributed 13.7 percent to the inflation increase, also posting an 8.7 percent inflation rate in May.
