MANILA, Aug. 29 -- Malacanang on Friday said the Office of Solicitor General (OSG) will file a comment on the petition challenging the constitutionality of Republic Act (RA) 12232, which moves the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) from Dec. 1, 2025 to the first Monday of November 2026.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the Palace would defer to the OSG, as the Philippine government's legal counsel, to respond to the Supreme Court (SC) order for the executive branch to comment on the petition.
"We have already referred it to OSG as counsel of the Republic," Castro said in a text message to reporters.
The SC has consolidated the three petitions against the BSKE postponement.
