Manila, May 23 -- Malacanang on Friday announced a major Cabinet revamp, as the courtesy resignation of at least one of its members was accepted, one will be transferred to another agency, and two will serve as ambassador and presidential assistant.

In a Palace press briefing, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin announced that Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Enrique Manalo will serve as the Philippines' permanent representative to the United Nations, replacing Antonio Manuel Lagdameo who expressed his desire to retire from government service.

Bersamin said Manalo would assume the new post starting Aug. 1.
