Manila, Aug. 26 -- The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned of widespread rains, flooding, and landslides as a low-pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon or habagat continue to affect large parts of the country.

Based on its 5 p.m. report, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist John Manalo said that as of 3 p.m., the LPA was located near the coastal waters of Siruma, Camarines Sur.

He said that while it remains less likely to develop into a tropical depression, heavy rains is expected over most parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in the next 48 hours.
