MANILA, Nov. 28 -- Senator Robinhood Padilla on Friday called on fellow public officials to stop distributing Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) relief goods in a way that makes it appear these came from them personally, stressing that the assistance belongs to the Filipino people.

In a Facebook post, Padilla reminded politicians that disaster aid is financed by taxpayers and government borrowings, not by the personal resources of elected officials.

He said it is unfair for public servants to claim credit for relief operations when the funds do not come from their own pockets.
