Manila, June 23 -- The local fishery industry in Marawi City is expected to experience a significant boom with the recent opening of the PHP261.5-million port, which President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited on Monday.
In a statement, Sadiq Mohamad, director of Marawi City's Project Management Office, said the new port facility will centralize fish catch, making it more accessible to the public, particularly near the passenger terminal building.
"We are looking at a fishing industry that will reach a certain level of production that will not only be used for local consumption but also be sold to other places," he said.
