Manila, March 4 -- The Department of Public Works and Highways in the Ilocos Region (DPWH-1) is working on four major flood control projects worth PHP226.8 million in La Union province.
In a statement on Tuesday, DPWH Ilocos Region information officer Esperanza Tinaza said one of the projects is the rehabilitation of Baroro River Control in Barangay Sta. Rosa, aimed to strengthen the slope protection structure along the San Juan-San Gabriel road section.
The PHP23.6 million project, which involves the construction of a 321-linear-meter slope protection structure with structural steel sheet piles and a pile capping beam, began on Jan. 2 this year.
