Manila, April 15 -- The Ozamiz City government in Misamis Occidental has covered over PHP22 million in hospital expenses of its constituents for the first quarter of the year.
The city's zero-billing program also extends to residents of other towns within the province.
"In the first quarter of 2025 alone, this vital program shouldered the hospital bills of 884 patients," the city government said in its report Tuesday.
Beyond hospital costs, the local government also provided burial assistance to the bereaved families of 170 deceased, amounting to a total of PHP2.4 million during the same period.
The zero-billing program's reach is expanding across the entire province, ensuring broader access to essential healthcare services.
