Manila, June 11 -- The National Irrigation Administration in the Cordillera Administrative Region (NIA-CAR) has sold 36,499 bags of the PHP29/kg. Bagong Bayaning Magsasaka (BBM) rice to vulnerable sectors in the region.
In a report, NIA-CAR Director Benito Espique said the rice were produced under the Farming Support Services Program (FSSP) or the rice-contracting program implemented by the agency in 2024 in Kalinga and Apayao, the two main rice producers in the region.
Under the program, farmers who are members of irrigators' associations or irrigation service cooperatives will enter into a memorandum of agreement with the NIA to produce the BBM rice.
