Manila, Sept. 2 -- The candidates to the post of Ombudsman have until the end of the deliberation period by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) to submit their clearance on pending cases against them, Supreme Court (SC) spokesperson Camille Ting said Tuesday.
In an interview on Tuesday, Ting said Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office Chair Felix Reyes were "given until the day of the final deliberation to submit a clearance."
If they cannot provide clearance, Ting said they will not be included in a shortlist of nominees from which President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. can choose.
"The list may be out in a few weeks, Ting said.
