Manila, March 18 -- The number of barangays with active cases of African swine fever (ASF) dropped further by the end of February, the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Animal Industry reported Tuesday.
As of Feb. 28, red zones or those with active ASF cases dropped to 66 from 68 barangays logged last Feb. 14.
The affected barangays are reported in eight regions including Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Ilocos, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Central, and Caraga.
The majority of the 42 affected cities and municipalities are reported in Central Visayas, particularly in Bohol including Batuan, Bien Unido, Bilar, Catigbian, Dagohoy, Loon, Panglao, San Miguel, Tagbilaran City, Talibon, Trinidad, and Ubay.
