Manila, Jan. 14 -- A ranking National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) official has urged the public to approach the case of Fil-American Chantal Anicoche, who was rescued by Army troopers in Occidental Mindoro last Jan. 8, with sobriety, restraint, and a clear sense of responsibility.

"This is not a matter for spectacle or online trial. This is about the safety of a young person, the integrity of our legal process, and the accountability of those who place young people like her in harm's way," NTF-ELCAC executive director Undersecretary Ernesto Torres Jr. said in a statement Tuesday.

He said what is important is that Anicoche is safe, alive, safe, and receiving appropriate medical attention.
