Manila, Feb. 19 -- The provincial government of Northern Samar has issued an executive order prohibiting the movement of live pigs and pork products in three towns for at least a month to combat the spread of African swine fever (ASF).

Executive Order No. 25-02-01, signed by Governor Edwin Ongchuan on Feb. 10, 2025, also mandates the establishment of quarantine checkpoints in the boundaries of Las Navas, Catubig, and Laoang towns.
