Manila, Sept. 5 -- The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Friday clarified there are no plans to shut down online market platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, Facebook Marketplace, Carousell or TikTok.

In a statement, the DOTr said a video posted online claimed that the DOTr will shut down the online markets, thus affecting the livelihood of delivery riders.

"Hindi po ito totoo. Ang konteksto ng video ay tungkol sa pagpapasara ng unauthorized online resellers ng Beep cards sa mga nabanggit na platforms (This is not true. The context of the video is about the shutting down of unauthorized resellers of Beep cards in the said platforms)," it said.
