Manila, March 21 -- The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) on Friday said it will soon collaborate with the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) for the expansion of Bagong Bayaning Magsasaka (BBM) rice sale in the country.
The partnership aims to make BBM rice accessible to more Filipinos in line with the food security and affordability targets of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
The BBM rice, which comes from the fresh local harvest of farmers under the NIA's contract farming, is sold at PHP29 per kilogram to the vulnerable sector including senior citizens, persons with disabilities, solo parents, and Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries.
