Manila, Dec. 11 -- The yellow alert status for the Visayas grid has been lifted as of 1 p.m. Thursday after demand went down, ensuring an adequate margin of supply.

In an advisory, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said capacity rose to 2,760 megawatts (MW) while demand went down to 2,421MW.

NGCP earlier placed the Visayas grid under yellow alert, which is being down when the supply margin is thin, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

This, after a 35MW uptick in demand earlier in the day, with available capacity pegged at around 2,578 megawatts (MW) while peak demand was around 2,535MW.

Supply was affected since 10 power plants in the Visayas are already on forced outage, while 16 power plant units were on derated capacity.
