Manila, Feb. 13 -- The National Food Authority (NFA) is set to expand its "tonner bag" system in select warehouses of 42 branches nationwide following the successful pilot rollout of the tonner bag system in three NFA warehouses in Cabanatuan City, Oriental Mindoro, and Davao del Sur.
A tonner bag, which is made of a high-strength woven polypropylene or polyethylene, can hold a volume of palay (unhusked rice) equivalent to 12 standard NFA sacks.
From three pilot sites, NFA Administrator Larry Lacson said they plan to expand their usage to save more space, time, and labor costs.
