Legazpi City, Aug. 7 -- The National Food Authority in Bicol (NFA-5) on Thursday said the palay (unhusked rice) stored in various warehouses throughout the Bicol Region is enough for PHP20 per kilogram under the "Benteng Bigas Meron (BBM) Na" program, and for times of calamities.

During a press conference at the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) regional office, Menna Endaya, NFA-5 operations officer, said there are 823,820 bags of palay, each weighing 50 kilograms, along with an inventory of 81,247 bags of local rice.

She said the three branches of NFA in Bicol maintain the following palay inventories: 194,507 bags in Albay, 499,401 bags in Camarines Sur, and 129,912 bags in Sorsogon.
