Manila, Dec. 30 -- Lower fireworks-related injuries are seen in Negros Island Region (NIR) this year following constant reminders from authorities.
Based on the initial surveillance report of the Department of Health (DOH), a total of 37 cases were recorded from Dec. 21 to the early morning of Dec. 30, representing only 27.4 percent of the 135 cases logged from Dec. 21, 2024 to Jan. 6, 2025.
In a statement on Tuesday, the DOH-NIR said "data is undergoing verification and may be subject to change," adding that final reporting will be on Jan. 6, 2026.
Of the 37 cases, Negros Occidental recorded 23; Negros Oriental, 13; and Bacolod City, one.
Siquijor has not recorded any cases.
