DUMAGUETE CITY, Oct. 8 -- Negros Oriental Governor Manuel Sagarbarria urged his constituents on Wednesday to enroll in the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).

Speaking during the launch of YAKAP in the province, Sagarbarria noted that only a quarter of the province's population has so far registered for the expanded version of the state insurer's Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (Konsulta) program.

"So far, only 25 percent of the estimated 1.4 million population of Negros Oriental are registered under YAKAP, and many of our rural health units (RHUs) and public hospitals are already accredited facilities," Sagarbarria said.
