MANILA, July 4 -- A total of PHP22.9 million in assistance has been provided to local fishers in General Santos City, the Department of Agriculture (DA) reported Friday.
This came after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. inspected the rehabilitation of the General Santos City Fish Port Complex and a meeting with local fishers in the country's tuna capital.
"It reflects our shared commitment to build a more resilient and profitable livelihood for our fisherfolks," Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said in a statement.
The aid includes PHP8.6 million worth of complete seaweed farm implements and nursery maintenance; as well as PHP5.9 million worth of salt production equipment, including solar dryers and cooking setups.
