Manila, Oct. 9 -- The reported death toll due to the Sept. 30 magnitude 6.9 earthquake that hit Bogo City, Cebu went up to 74, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Thursday.
All the reported fatalities were from Region 7 (Central Visayas) and are still subject for verification, the NDRRMC said in its latest situational update.
Meanwhile, the number of injured individuals that are also undergoing validation remained at 559, it added.
The powerful earthquake affected 189,620 families equivalent to 666,439 persons residing in 251 barangays in Central Visayas.
It also damaged 71,996 houses, of which 67,027 are classified as "partially damaged" and 4,969 as "totally damaged."
