MANILA, April 21 -- The index crimes dropped by 60.18 percent in Metro Manila during the Holy Week from April 14 to 20, compared to the same period in 2024, according to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday.
NCRPO chief, Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin, said that 45 focus crimes were lower than the 113 incidents logged in the same period last year.
The NCRPO data showed that the most substantial decline was in murder, with only one case, down from eight incidents in 2024.
It also said rape has a sharp 77.78 percent drop (18 cases down to 4); physical injuries -- 66.67 percent (12 cases down to 4); theft -- 56.36 percent (55 cases down to 24); and carnapping -- 75 percent decline (from 4 to 1).
